Stories of Patients

Tell Your Story Here -- Email MedicalErrors@aol.com Today!

My own real-life horror story of gross medical negligence I experienced at Overlake Hospital has led me to create this web site and fight back by using the Internet to provide information access to all patients seeking care at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Washington. This site is to become a Patient Network and allow every single person, or loved one, who has been treated badly, maimed, berated, ridiculed, killed or worse by an Overlake Hospital doctor to tell their story and read all about others who have been harmed also. By putting on these "trials" in this Court of Public Opinion -- we patients will force all physicians, everywhere, to raise the bar for the "standard of medical care" in all medical disciplines across this nation. To all the doctors at Overlake Hospital... you can run, but you can't hide!

"When sorrows come, they come not as single spies, but in battalions!" Shakespeare c. 1614

Elizabeth, the Webmaster, strikes back!

(See my photos! )-- with "symptoms" and "normal"

In addition to the details contained in my medical nightmare story on the "About Us!' link on this site, a few other shocking things happened to me at Overlake Hospital during my illness. One is the illegal HIV test I was forced, coerced and directed to take after a nurse stuck herself with a syringe she used to give me a sedating drug. It was in the middle of the night and I was sleepy and drugged but forced to answer questions about my sexual history and if I was ever "a risk" for AIDS. I gave no "consent" for the test -- that was for no one's benefit but the nurse's ... who should have tested herself invasively, NOT me. The nurse did not read me the form, she filled it out for me and dated it for me (forged) and I had no other option presented to me (she could take triple cocktail, retest herself.) This makes this incident a felony assault. To this day I have not been able to learn the identity of the nurse -- the risk manager, Mr. Bryan, refused to tell me. I can't file a complaint due to this withholding of information. A person has the legal right to know the identity of anyone that treats them. Also, I was denied knowing the results for 2 years, this is a very psychologically distressing test (no counseling offered.) Mr. Bryan challenged me to a lawsuit to get the information, which I am doing. These are state laws that Overlake has violated, beyond civil court!

Another AMAZING incident that MUST be told, centers on my being kicked off the hospital property while I was an inpatient because I was crying in pain. They got sick of me, and because I had been branded nuts  -- I was perceived as a pest while pleading for pain medication for my excruciating headaches (I later went to have meningitis which was diagnosed at the University Hospital.)

My family had left for the night hoping I'd stay and get the drugs I needed for the pain, I did not get them. I was so desperate and disoriented, I grabbed my things and began to leave. Instead of helping me, the sadistic nurses called the security on me and had Officer T. Caldwell escort me out of the hospital grounds out to 116th Avenue. I was half dressed, in my pajamas, no real shoes, in bed clothes. I was a young, drugged, half dressed woman with no money, no ride home, staggering in pain and left to the elements at 11 PM at night. On my way out I collapsed in the ER only to have a sadistic nurse shove ammonia salts INSIDE my nose (NEVER to touch tissues, only waived under!) They broke inside my nose, burning me badly and made me bleed. I got up and was hustled out. I walked across the dangerous busy street 116th Avenue to the parking lot of the old BEST Store where there was a pay phone. I called collect to my husband and he pleaded I go back across the street to the ER and wait for him  -- he was coming for me. The nurses made me wait in the room where the psych. patients are strapped in leather restraints. It was upsetting. I was almost struck by a car crossing the streets while so medicated. I was disoriented from the pain and was not treated in VERY severe distress. Incredible, but typical for Overlake ER people. DO NOT GO THERE!

DID I MENTION OVERLAKE HOSPITAL SUED ME FOR $600 OF ER CO-PAYS I REFUSED TO PAY DUE TO THE REPETITIVE MISDIAGNOSIS ON SO MANY VISITS?

Kim's story

I had a needle biopsy done on my neck for a lump that would not go away. An Overlake pathologist performed this procedure improperly and I got  a bad infection from it. More surgery was needed to fix the problem, leaving a much larger scar on my neck. Totally unnecessary.

"Jane" can't ski?

"Jane" broke her knee skiing a few years ago and was taken to Overlake to set it after the break. Such a poor job was done, she had to have a knee replacement after 4 years because the knee joint had rubbed down to nothing from surgical misalignment. Now "Jane" can't ski so well, or at all. A major surgery and large scar, totally unnecessary.

Dr. Boyd? Dr. Boyd? Wherefore art thou Dr. Boyd?

Remember the press on this clown? This Overlake "eye doctor" had 143 complaints lodged against him to the Medical Quality Assurance Board before the public got wind of it from a reporter's ferreting out the information. Should it take 143 complaints to find out about anything? Boyd fled the area and the country it is believed... with his cash, his lies and his incompetence  -- Farewell Boyd! One way or another, Dr. James  Stroh, I'll Get Ya.

Anyone follow the King County court cases? See Reese v. Stroh case # 61935-2. The same Dr. Stroh responsible for harming Supreme Webmaster, Elizabeth. In 1992 Mr. Reese needed care for his emphysema condition and saw Dr. Stroh. He was told by Stroh, "it isn't serious" and Mr. Reese's health declined. Dr. Stroh failed to work-up Mr. Reese properly and failed to offer a new drug that all doctors everywhere were using for the specific condition that plagued Mr. Reese. All but Stroh, it seemed from the court papers. Had the Reese v. Stroh case been posted and public back in 1997, perhaps Dr. Stroh would not have been so cavalier to the Supreme Webmaster. Let's see what happens now to Dr. Stroh's 'practice.' Practice makes perfect, don't you think? If he keeps saying this "isn't serious" to patient's with severe medical problems, what good is he? He should not be allowed to 'practice.' The only thing good named Stroh, comes in a can!

Stroh is a complete idiot! I was referred to him after getting hives from my pregnancy. He did not do any tests to find out where the hives were coming from and basically just asked me personal questions. His conclusion was that I needed to see a shrink!!! I walked out and thought what an idiot and I was then treated at Univ of WA Medical Center for my condition!!!!!!

Sweet Little Baby... Don't Cry

In July of 2000 a story ran in the Eastside Journal about a baby who survived a fatal car crash, which killed her mother. The baby was taken to Overlake for some reason, and not Children's, where she was released without x-rays! The next day, her father brought her to Children's Hospital because she continued to cry in pain. Children's doctors found the baby to have 2 broken legs and a skull fracture. High level officials at Children's are the ones that tipped this story to the press  -- they were so disgusted with Overlake. So are we all. We are watching closer than ever. DON'T take a child to OVERLAKE! It is not worth it!

Strawberry Pie for dinner, little one?

No, the red, swollen tongue is not a stain from strawberry pie, it is KAWASAKI DISEASE! This uncommon pediatric vasculitis can kill. It can cause heart vessel aneurysms within 5 days; a serious pediatric acute febrile disorder. Overlake missed this child's Kawasaki Disease in the summer of 1998, and treated it as a 'rash'  -- a very serious pediatric illness overlooked. This is why children SHOULD NOT be treated in the Overlake ER. They aren't equipped for kids and ALL kids should be sent to Children's because Overlake doesn't seem to know what to do with them. Oversights like this, can kill, fast!

Lizzie Borden Aquitted! Brit Borden MD GUILTY of whaking patients!

Subject: Dr. Britt Borden Date: 7/22/2003 9:28:37 AM PST From: karen@schoenbecklaw.com To: MedicalErrors@aol.com

Hi! I work at a law firm in Watertown, South Dakota, and we are pursuing a medical malpractice lawsuit here in South Dakota against Dr. Britt Borden. A search of his name on the internet brought me to your web site. Can you provide me with any more details on him? I am not having a whole lot of luck on the internet.

If you have questions, please give me a call. Thank you. Karen Armstrong Schoenbeck Law (605) 886-0010
